Empathy Tip # 109 - Hasta La Vista, Baby (Goodbye) to "Bad" Habits

The Situation:
Ok, I overate today. To much of a "good thing". I want to better myself from this painful, emotional and physical experience of too much food in my stomach.

The Solution using our values:

I ask myself 3 questions before I execute an unhealthy strategy that I will pay for later. The strategies may be for drinking, overshopping, gambling, drugs, relationships, etc.. (example answers are for overeating strategy)

1: What needs was am I trying to meet by this unhealthy strategy?
        Calm, food, stimulation

2: What needs may not be met if I do this action?
        integrity, health, energy, consciousness

3: Are there other strategies I might I do to meet the needs in #1 that are healthier, emotionally and physically.
        Go to a healthier restaurant
Ask myself, am I really hungry for physical or emotional sustenance.
Meditate or walk around the block first....

Try this tip during the week and let me know if it works for you.
Hoping all your needs are met this week.

Sometimes it's not easy to find a substitute.

It's never easy. I usually yield to temptation and the only thing I manage is to choose the least evil of all. For instance, if I crave chocolate I would go for a small piece of very dark 85% chocolate, and if I crave bread I would probably go for a whole-wheat crisp or a small slice yummy homemade bread. Instead of coke I would go for some fresh juice. At any fast food joint I go for the healthiest option I can or I share my food with someone.

Well, at least I am trying ;)
